This has to rank alongside the most emotionally charged locations in Scotland. Seen from miles around central Scotland, the monument erected to the memory of William Wallace simply demands attention - the instant it becomes visible. Stirling Brig', only half a mile to the south of Abbey Craig, on which the monument was erected, remains another target for the intrigued visitor to Stirling. To complete a triumvirate of historical gems, Stirling Castle, of course, overlooks the entire scene from its own lofty perch. The River Forth, meanwhile, quietly makes its way eastwards, creating an astonishing sequence of "U bends" as it weaves its way into, around and, finally, out of the town on its way to the North Sea, some forty miles distant. This photographer could not have wished for anything more spectacular to reward his early morning departure and long journey, in the hope of capturing 'something special'. Words to adequately describe the wonderful end product which awaited him are VERY hard to find......
