Donald Ford Images - Scotland's golf and landscape photographer

Snow?? Already??!!

Last week's early morning outing to Loch Lomond was intended to capture the strengthening golds and oranges of mid-autumn. That particular ambition yet remains unfulfilled - it seems that the very dry, sunny April weather has caused leaves to dry up, rather than react to the "normal" effects of late October weather and falls in temperature as frosts begin to make their mark. Nevertheless, the first snowfall of an up and coming winter provided a bonus ( see the Ben Lomond pic above ) and, to be honest, the day finally ended up on a high with a few lovely shots around Blairgowrie Golf Club in late afternoon.

The expectations from the trip also featured a photograph or two from a visit to Buchanan Castle Golf Club at Drymen ( see the shot of the eighth green alongside ). I succeeded in that respect - though not in the manner expected - despite the massive rainfall 48 hours previously having left the course really wet. The disappointment of the anticipated captures were ultimately overtaken, therefore, by the later successes and, on the whole, it was a reasonably buoyed photographer who made his way home that evening!

Windy conditions over the weekend, however - aided and abetted by gales throughout Sunday night - will not have helped the cause of presenting Scotland's landscape at its best in, arguably, its most beautiful colouring. A couple of nights of frost would certainly help but there is little sign so far of that so fingers must be frustratingly twiddled for at least a few more days! Still, there is PLENTY of work to be done in an office currently firing out customer calendar orders for 2012 on a daily basis.....and ( touch wood ) feedback so far has been VERY positive. Right! On with the admin ( UGH!! )........
