Donald Ford Images - Scotland's golf and landscape photographer

"Harsh" winter? That's an understatement!!

Winter certainly hit Scotland with a vengeance in January, although the opportunities available to the photographer to capture the best snow scenes were seriously reduced by a) VERY short bursts of lovely, low sunlight on the snow-covered landscape and b) the plethora of warnings not to travel on the roads unless the journey was essential. Had I been twenty years younger, I might well have set sail for the far-off locations without a second thought. Now, however, I have neither the bravado nor selfishness to take such risks. The result, of course, is that the classic winter scene for next year's calendars may well be much less dramatic or impactful than in times gone by. In the circumstances, therefore, the images above are probably the best available from the adventures which WERE undertaken; it's a bit of a shame, but sense now prevails!

Excitingly, 2013 holds much promise. The 125th anniversary of Blairgowrie Golf Club is almost upon golf enthusiasts and a couple of lovely potential publications will hopefully do justice to one of Scotland's most visited inland golfing venues. The development of a couple of apps is also near to fulfilment, while the first DVD of my photography is complete and will be available shortly. Tried out at Pitlochry Winter Words Festival on a very appreciative audience, feedback is excellent. Watch the website menu headers for its arrival!

As ever on the first blog of a new year, I hope all who visit the website and enjoy taking their own photographs around this stunning country have a great 2013 with camera in hand……it MUST be drier than 2012!!!
